    LIEN STACKING VISUALIZER

See every claim before the money divides.

Enter a settlement and every claim against it — liens, subrogation, attorney fees, costs — and watch the pie split in real time, including what's left for the patient.

One case, one picture: the Lien Stacking Visualizer is a free tool that shows how a personal injury settlement divides across competing claims. Enter the settlement and every claim against it — provider liens, subrogation, attorney fees, and costs — and it charts the split in real time, including the patient's take-home and any shortfall when the claims exceed the settlement.

    The working assumptions

How the visualizer works, plainly stated.

    • We divide money exactly as you enter it. Every claim you add is subtracted from the settlement in the order listed; the remainder is the patient's take-home.
    • A shortfall means the pie is too small. When claims add up to more than the settlement, we flag it — the difference has to be negotiated down before anyone is fully paid.
    • We don't decide priority. This tool does not advise who must legally be paid first. Lien priority and subrogation rights are legal questions for your counsel.
    • Real cases vary. Jurisdiction, made-whole rules, and lien negotiation all change the picture. Use this as a fast planning estimate, not a final accounting.
    LIEN STACKING FAQ

    Questions about the split.

How does the lien stacking visualizer calculate the patient's take-home?

It sums every claim you enter — provider liens, subrogation, attorney fees, and costs — and subtracts the total from the settlement. Whatever is left is the patient's take-home, shown both as a dollar figure and as a slice of the chart.

    What does a shortfall mean?

A shortfall appears when the total claims exceed the settlement. The settlement can't cover everyone, so the difference has to be negotiated down before the patient sees anything.

Does the tool decide which lien gets paid first?

No. It divides money exactly as you enter it and does not determine legal priority. Lien priority and subrogation rights are legal questions for your counsel.

Is the lien stacking visualizer free?

Yes. It's completely free, runs in your browser with no signup, and you can download the breakdown as a branded PDF or have it emailed to you.
