Policy Limits
The maximum amount an insurance policy will pay for a covered claim — a hard ceiling on what's available to settle a case.
Policy limits are the most an insurer will pay under a given policy. In PI cases, they often cap the entire recovery: a serious injury behind a small policy can leave too little to satisfy every lien in full.
Why it forces reductions. When medical liens, subrogation, and fees exceed the available limits, claimants negotiate reductions to fit inside the ceiling. Knowing the limits early tells everyone whether the case can pay out in full.
