    Attorney Signature LienASL

A lien acknowledged and signed by the patient's attorney, agreeing to protect and pay the provider's balance from the settlement.

An Attorney Signature Lien (ASL) adds the attorney's acknowledgment to the lien, committing them to honor the provider's claim when the case resolves. Because the attorney controls the settlement funds, an ASL is one of the strongest forms of payment protection a provider can hold.

Common failure point. A missing or undated attorney signature on the assignment portion is one of the single biggest causes of delayed PI payments. A pre-routing checklist that blocks filing until both the signature and date are present eliminates the problem.
