    Revenue Cycle (RCM)

    Days in A/R

The average number of days it takes to collect payment after a service is billed — a core measure of revenue cycle health.

Days in A/R measures how long money sits unpaid after care is delivered. A lower number means faster cash; a rising number signals collection problems. In PI, days-in-A/R is structurally high because liens pay at settlement, sometimes 180+ days out.

Why it's worth fixing. Even modest improvements — cleaner lien packets, faster records turnaround, proactive status updates — can move PI days-to-payment from 180 toward 110, which is real money at any cost of capital.
